Be a Better Singer - Learn Music
It is true that you can sing without knowing much about music theory or playing an instrument. But, wouldn't it feel good to understand the other musicians when they talk about the notes and chords of the songs you are rehearsing? Or when they ask you "In what Key do you sing this song?", wouldn't it be nice to walk over to a piano, hit a few notes, sing a few words of the song, tap a few more notes or play some chords, sing a few more lyrics and then say, "I sing this song in C Minor."
Well, you can have that much confidence and you don't have to suffer through an arduous study of music theory to get there. The best way to learn music is by doing it instead of just reading about it. Music is a sensory perception that you hear, so it makes sense to learn to play it by ear.
We recommend Jermaine Griggs's Hear and Play Piano by ear courses. When you click on images or links below, you will be taken to Jermaine's web site where all your questions will be answered.
Beginner?
If you are just beginning to learn to play, we suggest the Hear and Play 702 beginning piano course.
Already Playing?
If you could learn to play an instrument by ear it would make learning music so much easier. That way you can always relate the theory you do learn to what you do with the instrument. It's hands-on training instead of a lot of book study.
While it isn't necessary to know music to sing well, Jeannie Deva does recommend you learn as much about it as you can. It will make you a more confident singer. Since the voice reflects your feelings, the more confident you are, the stronger you will sing.
And lastly, if you want to write songs, learning to play an instrument like guitar or piano is pretty much a necessity.
If you already play piano and want to improve your skills, we recommend the Comprehensive course that includes a 300 page book.
There are also many free lessons on the Hear and Play site along with postings and a free newsletter. If you want to learn to play piano and understand music better, visit Jermaine's site today using the image links above.
